Judge Jackie Glass - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Jackie Glass (Ret.) was a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. She was elected to the bench in 2002 and retired in 2011.

Glass received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia in 1978. She went on to earn a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1984.

After graduating from university, Glass first worked as a radio news reporter, and then, later, as an anchor and crime reporter for a local television station.

Upon completing her law degree, she entered into private practice. Glass practiced at Harding & Dawson (1985), Moran & Weinstock (1985), and Nitz, Schofield & Walton (1985 to 1986). In 1987, she worked briefly as an attorney for the City of Las Vegas’ Senior Citizen Law Project before joining the Law Offices of R. Steven Young (1988 to 1990).

Then, in 1990, she joined forces with her husband as a partner at their law firm, Wolfson & Glass. During her tenure there, she handled primarily personal injury and criminal defense cases. Glass remained in that position until her election to the bench in 2002.

While on the bench, Glass presided over criminal and civil cases, most notably the O.J. Simpson robbery case. She was also credited with helping to establish the Clark County Mental Health Court in 2003 and was instrumental in the creation of the Clark County Competency Court in 2005. In addition, Glass oversaw the County’s drug and alcohol treatment courts.

After leaving the bench, she became the host of “Swift Justice with Jackie Glass.” The show's premise involved Glass presiding over televised binding arbitrations.

In 2012, she became a mediator, arbitrator, and private judge for Private Trials and then, in 2015, joined Advanced Resolution Management as a mediator.

Her memberships have included the State Bar of Nevada, Clark County Bar Association, National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, Las Vegas Housing Authority Board, and a past board member of Senior Citizens Law Project.

Glass has served as an Alternate Domestic Referee, URESA Hearing Master, Paternity Hearing Master, and Alternate Juvenile Referee.

She and her husband, a former Las Vegas City Councilman, have two daughters.
