Biography

The Hon. Jack Halpin (Ret.) served as a judge for the Shasta County Superior Court in California. Halpin was appointed to the bench by former Governor Pat Brown in 1962. He resigned two years later. Halpin later joined the Assigned Judges Program in 1994.


After resigning from the bench, Halpin became the Deputy Director of the California Department of Finance. He was quickly promoted to Chief Deputy Director later that year. His time there, however, was brief. Halpin resigned to run for California State Senate in 1965, a race he lost to Republican Fred Marler.


Halpin earned a J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1951.


After graduating from law school, Halpin entered into private practice. In addition to his time spent in Shasta County, he has also worked as an attorney in New York and Hawaii.


Halpin was born and raised in New Jersey. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
