The Hon. J. D. Langley (Ret.) served as a judge for the 85th District Court in Brazos County, Texas. Langley joined the bench in 1991 and retired in 2014. He continues to serve as a senior judge for the Brazos County District Court.
Langley earned a B.S. in building construction from Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University in 1974. Then, in 1983, he completed a J.D. at South Texas College of Law.
After graduating from law school, began his legal career as a law clerk in Houston in 1980. Three years later, he entered into private practice as a sole practitioner. Then, in 1984, Langley joined the Office of the District Attorney, where he served as an assistant district attorney until 1985. At that time, he was selected to preside as a judge for the Brazos County Court at Law No. 2. He served in that capacity until his elevation to the Brazos County District Court.
At the time of his retirement, Langley held the distinction of being the longest serving trial judge in the county's history.
Langley is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
