The Hon. Herbert J. Moses is a judge for the Criminal Court of the City of New York in New York County. He was first appointed to the bench by Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2017.
Moses earned a bachelor’s degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He then completed a J.D. from the City University of New York School of Law in 1991.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Moses was the president of the Law Office of Herbert J. Moses, where he handled criminal defense cases from 1996 to 2016. Before that, he served as an assistant district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of Kings County for five years.
Moses has taught as an adjunct professor of criminal law and procedure at New York City College of Technology.
