Biography

The Hon. Helen Zukin is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in 2018.

She is a registered Democrat.

Judge Zukin received her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She went on to earn her J.D. from Loyola Law School.

Zukin began her legal career as an associate for the law firm Greene, O'Reilly, Agnew, and Broillet in 1985. After five years with the firm, she left to join Simke, Chodos, Silberfeld, and Anteau, Inc., where she worked as an associate until being named a partner in 1992. Zukin then entered into solo practice in 1995 where she practiced until 2006 when she became a partner at Kiesel Law LLP. Zukin would remain in that role until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2018. During her twelve years with the firm, Zukin represented clients with catastrophic injuries, toxic exposures, as well as victims of defective pharmaceutical products and medical devices.

Zukin served as past-president of the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission and has served on the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation.

She has also been a member of the American Jewish Univerisity's board of directors.
