Biography

The Hon. Harry L. Jacobs (Ret.) served as a judge for the Superior Court of Merced County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on December 27, 2012, filling a vacancy created by the conversion of a commissioner position.

Jacobs earned a B.A. from the University of San Francisco. He then served in the United States Air Force for four years before completing a J.D. from Abraham Lincoln University Law School.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Jacobs served as a court commissioner for the Superior Court of Merced County from 2000 to 2011. Before that, he was a supervising deputy public defender for the Office of the Public Defender of Merced County as well as a law partner and owner of Jacobs and Saude.

He is registered as a Democrat.

Jacobs was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. In his free time, he enjoys playing the bass in a jazz band and kayaking in the ocean.

He retired from the Superior Court of California in 2018.
