The Hon. Harry E. Woolpert (deceased) served as a judge for the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court in California. Woolpert was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 1976. He retired in 1996.
Woolpert earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1953. He spent the next several years stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington with the United States Army before completing a J.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Woolpert worked as an attorney in private practice, entering into a partnership with his father. Then, in 1968, he moved to San Luis Obispo and opened his own private practice as a sole practitioner.
Woolpert was born in Los Angeles and raised in Indio. When not presiding over legal matters, he enjoyed playing bridge and tennis as well as backpacking, cooking, fly-fishing, and learning Latin.
He was registered as a Democrat.
Woolpert passed away on May 17, 2016.
