Hon. H. Patrick Haggard is a judge for the Western Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Georgia. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Nathan Deal in May 2011, filling the vacancy created by the confirmation of the Hon. Steve C. Jones to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
The Western Judicial Circuit is comprised of Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties.
Over the course of his judicial tenure, Haggard is credited with creating the Veterans Court in 2013. He was later named Chief Judge of the Western Judicial Circuit in 2017 and served in that capacity until stepping down from the position in 2020.
At the time of his appointment, Haggard was working as a sole practitioner in his own private practice.
In addition to maintaining his civil litigation practice, he also presided as a judge for the City of Winterville Municipal Court.
Haggard received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He went on to complete a J.D. at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.
He and his wife, Beth, have three children.
