The Hon. Gregory J. Elvine-Kreis is a judge for the Superior Court of Humboldt County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on May 22, 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. W. Bruce Watson.
Elvine-Kreis earned a B.A. from Humboldt State University. He then completed a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1999.
He began his legal career as an associate in the Law Offices of Mark Berg in 2003. He practiced there for seven years, eventually leaving to join the Office of the Public Defender of Humboldt County as a deputy public defender. Just three years after joining the Office of the Public Defender, he was promoted to a supervising attorney in the Office of Conflict Counsel, a position he held until his appointment to the bench.
