The Hon. Glenda Sanders is a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. She was appointed by former governor Gray Davis in 2003.
Sanders attended the Law School of Natal University in South Africa, completing her studies in 1979. She then earned a LL.M. from Cambridge University in 1981.
Sanders practiced as a barrister in Durban, South Africa for five years, where she handled both criminal and civil cases. Then, in 1986, she joined Latham & Watkins in California. She started as an associate, eventually becoming a partner in 1992. While at Latham & Watkins, Sanders specialized in commercial matters, including intellectual property disputes, trade secrets, real estate, product liability, securities, and unfair competition. She returned to her own private practice in 2000, practicing as a sole practitioner until her appointment to the Superior Court of Orange County.
Sanders initially worked as an assistant professor at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She has also taught as an adjunct professor at Chapman University.
Sanders has served as a Board Member of the American Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the Federal Bar Association, as well as the Orange County Bar Association.
Sanders is a recipient of the McCray Award for Judicial Excellence. She has also received the Judge of the Year Award from the Orange County Bar Association’s Business Litigation Section, the Orange County Trial Lawyers’ Association, the American Board of Trial Attorneys’ Association, and the Orange County Women Lawyers’ Association.
