The Honorable George J. Welch, Jr.

The Hon. George J. Welch, Jr. is a part-time judge for the Corning City Court in Steuben County in the Seventh Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to the bench by former Corning City Mayor Richard Negri in 2015.

He is a registered Democrat.

Judge Welch graduated with his B.S. in political science and psychology from the University of Rochester in 1993. He went on to earn a J.D. from Albany Law School in 1998.

After graduating from law school, Welch practiced as a named partner at Welch and Zink Law Firm. He remained with the firm until his appointment to the bench.

In addition to his law practice, Welch also served as a member of the Steuben County Legislature from 2012 to 2015. As such, he served as the representative for the City of Corning.
