The Hon. Geanene M. Yriarte is a judge for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California. She succeeded the Hon. Alexander H. Williams when she was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009.
Judge Yriarte is a Republican.
Yriarte received her bachelor's degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She went on to earn her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1997.
Upon graduating law school, Judge Yriarte joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office as a Deputy District Attorney. She has a wide-range of prosecutory experience, and some of her assignments have included working on cases involving juveniles as well as hardcore gangs. She was with the D.A.'s office for 12 years until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2009.
During her time with the Superior Court, Judge Yriarte has presided over the Pomona Juvenile Court.
Some of her other accomplishments include co-authoring an article for the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review and being named Deputy District Attorney of the month for March 2007.
