Judge Gayle Nathan - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Gayle Nathan (Ret.) was a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. She was elected to the bench in 2010 and lost her bid for re-election in 2014.

Nathan holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the State University of New York at Binghamton (1975) and an M.S. in special education and training from Long Island University, Post (1982). She went on to earn a J.D. from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 1988.

Prior to being elected to the District Court, Nathan had worked in solo practice since 1995.

On the bench, she presided on the Family Court.

In 2015, Nathan became an impartial hearing officer for the Clark County School District and a short trial judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court’s Short Trial Program. That same year, she also returned to her solo practice, where she served as an arbitrator and mediator.

Nathan published a nonfiction novel in 2014 and has also authored various articles ranging in topics from bullying to mediation. In 2013, she wrote and produced a video explaining Family Court procedures.

Then, in 2019, Nathan became a managing attorney for the Bonanza Legal Group.

She has served as a board member of the City of the World and an advisory board member of Hopelink of Southern Nevada. Nathan also served as board secretary of the Southern Nevada Women’s History Project and secretary of the Southern Nevada Gymkhana Association.
