Gail L. Perlman (Ret.) was first justice of the Hampshire County Probate and Family Court in Massachusetts. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Paul Cellucci in 1998. Perlman retired in 2011 after reaching the mandatory age of retirement.
During her tenure on the Probate and Family Court, she helped establish on-site mediation and conciliation services in Hampshire County and also helped develop a parent education program for divorcing parents and one for never-married parents as well as a child-focused procedural model for child-involved cases.
Perlman, who was a former social worker, devoted her legal career to alternative dispute resolution and mediation.
She served on the board of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation (past president) and was on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
