The Hon. Frederick Paul Dickerson, III is a judge for the Riverside County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Timothy Heaslet (Ret.).
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Dickerson received his B.A. from Lewis and Clark College in 1983. After participating in a student exchange program in Costa Rica, Dickerson attended Georgetown University, where he obtained his master's degree in Latin American studies. After a brief hiatus from school, during which time Dickerson worked as a sales manager for the Nissan Motor Corporation, he eventually decided to pursue his law degree. He then graduated with his J.D from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1991.
Dickerson first worked as an attorney for the Inland Counties Legal Services as well as serving three years at a civil litigation firm, before joining the Riverside County Public Defender's Office in 1994. He worked for five years as a deputy public defender before joining the Riverside County District Attorney's Office as a deputy district attorney in 1999.
Then, in 2003, Dickerson was selected to serve as a court commissioner for the Riverside County Superior Court. He would hold that position until his appointment to the bench four years later.
While on the bench, Judge Dickerson has presided over a criminal trials calendar at the Southwest Justice Center.
In his free time, Judge Dickerson enjoys sailing and surfing.
