Biography

The Hon. Frank T. Hazel (Ret.) served as a judge for the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. Hazel was appointed to the bench by former Governor Dick Thornburgh in 1981. He retired and assumed senior judge status in 2012.


Prior to his appointment, Hazel served as the District Attorney for the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office from 1976 to 1981. During his tenure there, he was the President of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association and Chairman of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association Task Force on Wire-tapping and Electronic Surveillance.


Hazel earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s University in 1964. He then completed a J.D. at Villanova University, Charles Widger School of Law in 1967.


His memberships have included the Guy G. deFuria American Inn of Court (President). He has also lectured on behalf of the Delaware County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, and the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges.
