The Hon. Francis B. Bennett, II is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2015 by former Governor Jerry Brown. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Patricia M. Schnegg (Ret.).
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Bennett received his BB.A. from the University of San Diego. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1990.
After graduating from law school, Bennett joined his sister and father in private practice at the Law Offices of Francis B. Bennett, where he practiced from 1990 to 1994.
Then, after a brief stint as a deputy public defender at the Los Angeles Public Defender's Office from 1994 to 1995, Bennett joined the Los Angeles Alternate Public Defender's Office as a deputy alternate public defender. He would remain there for 20 years and was serving in that capacity at the time of his appointment to the Superior Court in 2015.
During his time on the court, Bennett has presided over traffic court and misdemeanors at the Metropolitan Courthouse, as well as misdemeanor trials, arraignments and post-conviction matters at the East Los Angeles Courthouse.
