Biography

The Hon. Eugene S. Gini, Jr. is a judge for the Superior Court of Placer County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis on August 22, 2002.

Gini earned a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Sacramento. He then completed a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.

He began his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of Tulare County in 1985. Three years later, he transferred to the Office of the District Attorney of El Dorado County, where he served for the next seven years. Then, in 1995, he returned to his post in Tulare County but quickly left to become a supervising deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of Placer County. During his tenure in Placer County, Gini supervised the prosecution of misdemeanors, vehicular homicides, and felony drunk driving cases. He also acted as the lead deputy for the county’s child abuse, sexual assault, elder abuse, and domestic violence cases.

Over the course of his judicial career, Gini has served as the Supervising Family Law Judge as well as the Assistant Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of Placer County.
