The Hon. Esther P. Kim is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2019. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Bert Glennon (Ret.).
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Kim holds a J.D. from Whittier Law School.
Prior to her appointment, Kim was serving as a deputy attorney general with the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General. She came to the position in 2006 after serving for one year as counsel at the Children’s Law Center of Los Angeles.
Her legal experience also includes working as an attorney in private practice. She was an associate at the Law Offices of Jason Hsu for one year beginning in 2003. In 2004, she worked briefly in solo practice and also practiced as an associate at the Law Offices of William C. Behrndt, III. Just prior to her position at the Children’s Law Center, Kim was a managing attorney at the Law Offices of Jay C. Hong (2004 to 2005).
