The Hon. Eric R. Fleming is a judge for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. He was appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown on November 2, 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Donald J. Sullivan.
Fleming earned a B.S. from Tulane University. He then received a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
He began his legal career as an associate with Cooley Godward in 1995. Four years later, he left the firm and joined Yomiuri Shimbun as an editorial assistant.
He entered the public sector in 2003. He briefly served as a deputy district attorney for the Office of the District Attorney of Tulare County. Then, in 2004, he moved to the Office of the District Attorney of San Francisco County. He was hired as an assistant district attorney, eventually becoming a managing attorney in 2012.
Fleming was a resident of Redwood City, California at the time of his appointment to the bench.
He is registered as a Democrat.
