The Hon. Eric L. Heryford is a judge for the Trinity County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Elizabeth W. Johnson (Ret.).
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Heryford received his B.A. from California State University, Chico. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
After practicing for two years as a sole practitioner beginning in 1994, Heryford left the private sector to become a deputy district attorney with the Trinity County District Attorney's Office in 1996. Then, in 2002, he left the D.A.'s office to work as an environmental circuit prosecutor at the California District Attorneys Association, a position he would hold until 2006. It was at that time that Heryford returned to the Trinity D.A.'s Office, where he continued in his position as a deputy district attorney. Heryford was then elected to serve as the district attorney for Trinity County in 2014 and would maintain that position until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2018.
