Judge Eric A. Richardson - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Eric A. Richardson is a judge for the Fulton County State Court in Georgia. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Nathan Deal on July 31, 2013 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Susan B. Forsling (Ret.).

While on the State Court, Richardson has held an assignment in the Metro Atlanta Business Case Division.

Prior to his appointment, he was a deputy city attorney for the City of Atlanta, a position he held since 2011. In that role, Richardson was tasked with managing all litigation for the City. Before that, he had worked as a senior assistant city attorney there since 2009.

Richardson also spent time in the private sector at Troutman Sanders LLP. He joined the firm as an associate in 1998 and was named a partner in 2002.

He received a B.A. in philosophy from the University of Rochester in 1986. Richardson went on to complete a J.D. at Cornell Law School in 1994.

After graduating from law school, he began his legal career as an associate at the New York City law firm of Latham & Watkins LLP (1994 to 1998).

Richardson has sat as a board member of Revved Up Kids.
