The Hon. Enrique Monguia is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He succeeded Dewey L. Falcone who retired from the bench in May of 2013. Judge Monguia was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2014.
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Monguia received his B.A. from Stanford University. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law in 1983.
In 1984 Monguia became an attorney for the Mission Community Legal Defense Inc. and practiced there for two years before joining the Los Angeles Public Defender's Office in 1986. Judge Monguia served as a public defender for Los Angeles County until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2014.
Monguia has served as a mentor for the Rio Hondo College's Pathway to Law School program.
