The Hon. Enrique E. Camarena is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on July 16, 2014, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John S. Einhorn.
Camarena earned a B.A. from Dartmouth College. He then received a J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Camarena served as a deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of San Diego County from 1999 to 2014.
His father was an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent. While working in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1985, he was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by a Mexican drug cartel.
Camarena is registered as a Republican.
