The Hon. Elizabeth Shollenberger (deceased) served as a judge for the White Plains City Court in Westchester County in the Ninth Judicial District of New York. She was appointed to the bench by the White Plains Common Council in 2017.
Shollenberger earned an A.B. from Princeton University in 1978. Then, in 1981, she completed a J.D. at Yale Law School.
After graduating from law school, Shollenberger began her legal career as an associate at Rosenman, Colin, Freund, Lewis & Cohen in 1981. Two years later, she moved to Milberg, Weiss, Bershad, Spechtrie & Lerach, where she worked as an associate until 1985.
In 1988, Shollenberger became a staff attorney for the Housing Unit of Bronx Legal Services. During her fifteen-year tenure there, she rose through the ranks, becoming its managing attorney in 1992. Then, in 2003, Shollenberger transferred to Queens Legal Services. She served as its managing attorney for its Public Benefits Unit until 2009.
At that time, Shollenberger returned to private practice. She briefly worked as an associate at Warner & Warner before starting her own law firm as a sole practitioner in 2010. Two years later, she became an associate at Schlanger & Schlanger. In 2013, shortly after joining the firm, she was named partner. She worked in that capacity until 2016, at which time she returned to her own private practice.
She taught as an instructor at New York University School of Law (1986 to 1988) as well as an adjunct professor at New York Law School (2001 to 2008).
Shollenberger was a member of the White Plains Rotary Club and a volunteer attorney for Gay Men’s Health Crisis. She also served as Greenwich Village’s Democratic district leader (1986 to 1995) and the first president of the Village Reform Democratic Club.
She was raised in Alliance and Circleville, Ohio. She moved to White Plains, New York in 1999.
