The Hon. Elizabeth G. Macias is a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. She was appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown on December 27, 2012, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge David C. Velasquez.
Macias attended California State University, Fullerton, where she earned a B.A. in psychology and Chicano & Chicana studies in 1995. She then received a J.D. from California Western School of Law in 1999.
Before her appointment to the bench, Macias worked as a deputy federal public defender with the Central District of California from 1999 to 2012.
She has served on the Board of Directors of the Latina Lawyers Bar Association.
Macias was born in Los Angeles, California. She was raised in Santa Ana, California. She is a first-generation Mexican-American and the first in her family to obtain a high school diploma. She was the third Latina appointed to the bench in California.
She is registered as a Democrat.
