The Hon. Elihu M. Berle is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 1996 by former Governor Pete Wilson.
Judge Berle received his B.A. from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York in 1965. He graduated with his M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance and Commerce in 1966. He went on to earn his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1969.
Berle spent most of his legal career in private practice as a business litigator. In 1982 he served as a referee for the State Bar Court for three years. In 1988 he co-founded the law firm of Chrystie and Berle where he was practicing at the time of his appointment to the Superior Court in 1996.
During his time on the Superior Court, he served as a supervising judge for the Central District beginning in 2008.
He has served as a lecturer for HB Litigation Conferences.
His memberships have included the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the National Judicial College, the National Conference of State Trial Judges, and the Judicial Council of California Civil and Small Claims Advisory Committee.
