Hon. Edward Bassett (Ret.) was a judge for the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. He retired from the bench in 2017.
During his judicial tenure, Bassett held assignments in all court departments. He also served as presiding judge of the Family Court and associate presiding judge of the Probate Court.
Bassett had previously presided as a commissioner of the Maricopa County Superior Court since 1988.
Before joining the bench, he was a staff attorney at the Arizona Court of Appeals and had worked as a deputy public defender with the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office. Bassett also spent time in private practice in Seattle, Washington, before relocating to Arizona.
He received a B.A. from the University of Arizona in 1977. Bassett went on to complete a J.D. at Columbia Law School in 1981.
