The Hon. Edlene C. McKenzie is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. She was appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Charles Ervin.
McKenzie earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. She then received a J.D. from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law.
McKenzie began her legal career as an associate at Archer and Koliwer in 1986. The following year, she left the firm and started her own private practice as a sole practitioner. During this time, she supplemented her private practice with work as a Dispute Settlement Board Administrator at DeMars and Associates. Then, in 2005, she joined the Superior Court of San Diego County as a court commissioner, a position she held until her appointment to the bench.
McKenzie served as a member of the Independent Gaming Review Board as well as the Torts Claim Review Board of the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians from 1998 to 2005.
She is registered without party preference.
