The Hon. Earl Bradley Nelson is a judge for the Solano County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2008.
Judge Nelson received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law.
Nelson served a clerkship at the law firm Honeychurch, Finkas, and Villareal in 1980.
He then took on a full-time position as a deputy public defender with the Solano County Public Defender's Office for two years.
He re-entered private practice in 1982, where he would practice as a named partner for eight years at the erstwhile Power, Hagler, and Nelson and then at Hagler and Nelson until 1999. It was at that time that Nelson branched out on his own, opening his own private practice as a sole practitioner, where he would remain until 2007.
He then left private practice that year when he was selected to serve as a court commissioner for the Solano County Superior Court, a position he would hold until his appointment to the bench the following year.
While on the bench, Judge Nelson has served as the Supervising Criminal Judge for the Criminal Division at the Solano Law & Justice Center. He has also presided over the Veterans Treatment Court, which first convened in Solano County in 2014.
