Biography

The Hon. Douglas H. Hurd is a judge for the Mercer County Superior Court (Vicinage 7) in New Jersey. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jon Corzine on May 21, 2009.

Hurd has held assignments in the Civil Division of the Mercer County Superior Court. He was named Presiding Judge of the Civil Division in 2012.

Prior to his appointment, Hurd was an administrative law judge for the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law (2002 to 2009). Before that, he spent a year as Deputy Chief Counsel in the Office of the New Jersey Governor, where he assisted Acting Governor Donald DiFrancesco.

Hurd earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in 1991. He then completed a J.D. at Widener University Delaware Law School in 1994.

He and his wife, Jennifer Kusant, have one daughter.

He is registered as a Republican.
