The Hon. Dorothy B. Reyes is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2005 by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Alan B. Haber (Ret.).
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Reyes, who grew up in Lecompte Louisianna, attended Grambling State University on a National Merit Scholarship and received her B.S. in business administration. While she matriculated at Grambling, Reyes worked as a statistician for the late Eddie G. Robinson, the college's football coach.
After graduating from college, Reyes went on to earn her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1981. While she was at Loyola, Reyes worked as a paralegal for the law firm of Haight, Brown, and Bonesteel.
Reyes became an attorney for the law firm of LaFollette, Johnson, Dehaas, Fessler, and Ames in 1982. She practiced as a civil litigator for the firm for almost 20 years, specializing in employment law. Then in 2002, she left the firm to partner at her own firm Reyes and Wolfe LLP where she practiced insurance defense. She remained at the firm until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2005.
