Then, in 1997, she was appointed to serve as a referee for the Superior Court and was ultimately elevated to a court commissioner for the Superior Court in 1999. As a court commissioner, Groman presided over small-claims and traffic matters as well as juvenile dependency and delinquency trials. She remained in that capacity until winning the election in 2004.
Judge Groman served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1988 to 2000, at which time she was honorably discharged having reached the rank of Lieutenant.
During her time on the Superior Court, Judge Groman has presided over the Mental Health Court and has also served as a supervising judge for the Juvenile Court, Delinquency Division.
