Biography

The Hon. Dennis J. Landin is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in October of 2002 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Ann Kough.

Judge Landin received his B.A. in political science from Occidental College in 1977. He went on to earn his J.D. from UCLA Law School in 1980.

After he graduated from law school, Landin became an attorney for the Legal Aid Foundation of Long Beach, a nonprofit organization that provides legal help and representation for low-income individuals. Landin joined the Federal Public Defender's Office for the Central District of California in 1982. In 1992 he was named chief assistant. He was with the office for 20 years and remained in that capacity until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2002.

Some of his memberships include the Latino Judges Association, LA Law Library, Committee on Federal Courts for the California State Bar, Mexican American Bar Foundation, and the Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County.

Judge Landin has taught classes for the Center for Judicial Education and Research, has been a lecturer at his alma mater UCLA Law School, as well as a faculty member of B.E. Witkin Judicial College.
