The Hon. Debra L. Losnick is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018 after an unsuccessful bid for a judicial position in 2014.
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Losnick graduated with her B.A. in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1982. She went on to earn her J.D. from Southwestern Law School in 1985.
After graduating from law school, Losnick joined the law firm of Noassaman, Gunther, Knox, and Elliott, where she practiced tax litigation for one year.
She would then join the Los Angeles County Counsel's Office where she worked as a contract county counsel for four years beginning in 1986.
Then, in 1990, Losnick would join the Los Angeles County Superior Court as a part-time juvenile court referee. She would serve in that capacity until being elected to serve as a Superior Court commissioner in 1996. Losnick remained in that position for 22 years, until her appointment to the bench in 2018.
In 2003, Losnick was named the Constitutional Rights Foundation's Judge of the Year.
