The Hon. Debra Archuleta is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was elected to the bench in 2016.
Judge Archuleta graduated with her B.A. in economics from the University of California, Irvine in 1985. She went on to earn her J.D. from Western State University College of Law in 1990. While attending law school, Archuleta clerked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
After graduating from law school, Archuleta joined the D.A.'s office full-time as a deputy district attorney. She remained with the D.A.'s office for 25 years where she was assigned to the Hardcore Gang Unit, the Central Trials Unit, and the Family Violence Unit. She also served as the head of the D.A.'s Stalking and Threat Assessment Team for three years. She was serving in that capacity at the time of her election to the Superior Court.
Some of her many memberships include the National Women's Political Caucus, the Democrats For Israel, the Stonewall Democratic Club, and the East Area Progressive Democratic Club.
Judge Archuleta has also served as a volunteer for Project LEAD, teaching children about the legal system.
Archuleta, who was a victim of domestic violence as a teenager, also speaks to law enforcement and victim advocacy groups on the subject.
