The Honorable Dean T. Stout

Biography

The Hon. Dean T. Stout (Ret.) was a judge for the Inyo County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 1997 and retired in 2018.

Stout received his B.A. from the University of Puget Sound in 1974. He went on to earn his J.D. from Whittier College School of Law in 1977.

Prior to taking the bench, Stout had served as an assistant district attorney with the Inyo County District Attorney's Office. He also practiced for ten years in private practice, during which time he served as a public defender.

While on the bench, Stout served as the Presiding Judge of the Court. He was also appointed to serve as a member of the California Judicial Council, where he served as a liaison to the Santa Barbara and Kern County Superior Courts. He was also instrumental in establishing the Drug Court in Inyo County.

Some of his Judicial Council committees included the Blue Ribbon Commission on Children in Foster Care, the California Tribal Court/State Court Forum, the Trial Court Presiding Judges Advisory Committee, the Trial Court Budget Working Group, and the Domestic Violence Practice and Procedures Task Force. He also served as co-chair of the Judicial Council's Family and Juvenile Law Advisory Committee.
