Biography

The Hon. David W. Moranda is a judge for the Superior Court of Merced County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009, filling a vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position.

Moranda earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. He then completed a J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

He began his legal career in the Office of the District Attorney of Santa Clara County in 1981. Then, in 1993, he transferred once more, settling into a position in the Office of the District Attorney of Merced County. He spent the remainder of his legal career there, rising through the ranks to become chief deputy district attorney.
