The Hon. David V. Ward is a judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott on July 15, 2016, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Olin W. Shinholser.
The 10th Judicial Circuit encompasses Hardee County, Highlands County, and Polk County. Ward has held assignments in Highlands County, presiding over juvenile, probate, guardianship, mental health, and risk protection cases.
Prior to his appointment, Ward served as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the Tenth Judicial Circuit, a position to which he was named in 2001.
Ward earned a B.A. from the University of Florida in 1998. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 2001.
His memberships have included the Willson American Inn of Court. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was a resident of Sebring, Florida, at the time of his appointment.
