Biography

The Hon. David Sanders is a judge for the Calaveras County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. He filled the vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Grant V. Barrett.

Sanders is a registered Democrat.

Judge Sanders graduated with his B.A. in political science and government from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1978. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1987.

He began his legal career practicing as an associate at the law firms of Bullen, McKone, McKinley, Gay, Keitges, and Pach from 1987 to 1990, and with Johnson, Pagliero, and Schachter from 1990 to 1993. Sanders then entered solo practice, where he would remain until 1996, when he became an associate at Pagliero and Associates. He was named a partner for the firm, which became Pagliero and Sanders in 1999. Three years later, he joined King, Warwick, and Sanders as a supervising attorney until 2009, when he joined Field and Sanders in the same capacity. He remained there until being selected to serve as a court commissioner for the Calaveras County Superior Court in 2015.

Sanders served as a court commissioner for Calaveras County until his appointment to the bench in 2018.

Sanders also served as a judge pro tem with the Sacramento County Small Claims Court and with the Dispute Resolution Conference program in El Dorado County.
