David R. Ellis: Recent Cases and Legal Outcomes

The Hon. David R. Ellis is a judge for the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Pasco County, Florida. He was elected to the Circuit Court in 2018.

Ellis graduated with his B.A. in international relations from Florida State University in 1987. He went on to earn a J.D. from Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law in 1992.

Prior to his judgeship, Ellis had served in solo practice for twenty years. His areas of practice included civil litigation, family law litigation, domestic violence injunctions, probate and trust litigation, estate planning, and elder law.

While on the Circuit Court, he has held an assignment in the Family Division.

Ellis was a past president of the Clearwater Bar Association and co-founder of the Family Law Cases Pro Bono Initiative. He has served as co-chair of the Clearwater Bar Association Legal Fair and was chair of the Law Day Poster Contest.
