The Hon. David M. Gill is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. He initially served on the Municipal Court of San Diego from 1974 to 1979. He was then elevated to the Superior Court of San Diego County.
Gill earned an A.B. from Stanford University in 1956. He then continued his studies at Stanford Law School, completing a J.D. in 1959. He also received an LL.M. from Georgetown University in 1962.
He began his legal career in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Army in 1960. Three years later, he joined the Office of the City Attorney of San Diego, where he worked as a deputy city attorney for one year. He then joined the Office of the District Attorney of San Diego County. After serving for four years as a deputy district attorney, he left the public sector and practiced privately until his appointment to the bench.
Gill has served as the director of the San Diego County Bar Association. He has also been a member of the California Judges Association, the San Diego Imperial Council, the San Diego Armed Services YMCA, and the San Diego Lions Club.
