Hon. David K. Reinert is a judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court in California. Reinert succeeded the Hon. Benny C. Osorio when he was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on November 29, 2018.
Reinert grew up in Hershey, PA and graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. degree in Administration of Justice in 1996. After graduation, he became a police officer with the Fairfax County Police Department in Fairfax, VA in 1997, where he was a patrol officer for four years. Judge Reinert went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 2004.
After graduation, he was an Associate with the law firm Lax and Stevens in Los Angeles, CA. In 2005 he became a Deputy District Attorney for the Los Angeles County D.A.'s Office where he remained until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2018. While as a Deputy D.A. Reinert prosecuted cases for the Sex Crimes Division with a focus on child victims
Some of Reinert's memberships include serving as President of the Barristers Section for the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) from 2010-2011. He also became a member of the Armed Forces Committee in 2013. He has served on the Outstanding Jurist Award Committee and was the chair for the committee for the years of 2014 and 2015. Reinert has also served on the LACBA Board of Trustees where he has held the positions of Assistant Vice President and Vice President and served as a member of the Finance Committee in 2014.
