The Hon. David J. Roman is a judge for the Oswego City Court in Oswego County in the Fifth Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to the bench in 2014.
Roman began his judicial career as a judge for Oswego County Family Court in 1989. He presided in that capacity until 2008, losing the 2008 election to the Hon. Kim Seager. He spent the next two years serving as a judicial hearing officer for the Onondaga County Family Court. Then, in 2010, he was selected to serve as an interim judge for the Oswego County Court, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. James McCarthy to the New York State Supreme Court.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in 1973. Three years later, he completed a J.D. at Albany Law School.
Roman is a past president of the New York State Family Court Judges Association, the Oswego County Bar Association, and the Oswego YMCA Board of Directors. He has also served on the New York State Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics.
He is registered as a Republican.
