The Hon. David J. Hesseltine is a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown on December 2, 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Andrew P. Banks.
Hesseltine earned a B.A. from the University of California, Irvine. He then received a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1996.
He began his legal career in 1996. He started as an associate at Connor, Blake, and Griffin, eventually becoming a partner of the firm in 2003. The following year he joined the Superior Court of Orange County, where he served as a senior legal research attorney until 2010. He spent the next seven years working as a senior appellate attorney at the Fourth District Court of Appeal.
Hesseltine was a resident of Tustin, California at the time of his appointment to the bench.
He is a registered Democrat.
