David Humke was a judge for the Second Judicial District Court in Washoe County, Nevada. He was elected to the bench in 2014. Humke resigned in 2019 as part of an agreement with the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline. The agreement stipulated that Humke is barred from holding judicial office in Nevada.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Parsons College in 1971. He also obtained a master’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa in 1974. Humke earned a J.D. from the Nevada School of Law at Old College in 1985.
Prior to his judgeship, he presided over various tribal courts as a part-time judge from 2007 to 2014.
During that same time, Humke also served as a qualified mental health associate for Alliance Family Services (2007 to 2014) and Benchmark Behavioral Health Systems (2007 to 2014).
He served for two years as an attorney with the Juvenile & Family Law Department and was a part-time county commissioner in Washoe County from 2003 to 2014.
Early in his legal career, Humke worked as a business development associate with the Nevada Small Business Development Center at the University of Nevada, Reno (1987 to 2001) and was the executive director of The Children’s Cabinet, Inc. for one year beginning in 1985.
