Biography

The Hon. David E. Coddington is a judge for the Hornell City Court in Steuben County in the Seventh Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the City Court bench in 2016 after serving as an interim City Court judge since 2014. At the time of his election to the bench, Judge Coddington filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Joseph E. Damrath (Ret.).

He is a registered Republican.

Prior to his election to the City Court, Coddington had served as an assistant district attorney with the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office. Before joining the D.A.’s office, he had worked as an assistant public defender with the Steuben County Public Defender’s Office for fourteen years.

During that time, Coddington had also served as a sole practitioner in private practice since 1995.

Judge Coddington is a life-long resident of Hornell, New York, where he graduated from Hornell High School in 1985.
