David B. Oberholtzer (Ret.) was a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis on May 9, 2002, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Judith McConnell to the Fourth District Court of Appeal. He retired from the bench in 2020.
Oberholtzer received a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy. He then earned a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin.
He began his legal career working as an associate at Ober, Kaler, Grimes & Shriver in Baltimore, Maryland. Then, in 1983, he became general counsel for San Diego Express, Inc. Two years later, he joined Hillsinger and Constanzo as an associate, where he practiced insurance defense. He worked there briefly, eventually moving to Post, Kirby, Noonan, and Sweat in 1987.
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Oberholtzer was a pilot in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1978.
