Biography

The Hon. Daniel M. Wolk is a judge for the Yolo County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Gavin Newsom on April 28, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Janet Gaard.

Wolk earned a B.A. in economics from Stanford University. He worked at the Federal Reserve as well as the Public Policy Institute of California as a research assistant. Several years later, he continued his studies, completing a J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Wolk began his legal career as an associate in the Public Law Division of McDonough, Holland & Allen in 2005. While working in that capacity, he founded the Legal Clinic of Yolo County, where he served as its director until 2008. At that time, he left private practice and accepted a position as deputy county counsel in the Office of the Solano County Counsel. He served in that capacity until his appointment to the bench, handling water and public finance matters.

His memberships have included the Davis City Council and the Davis Social Services Commission. He has also served as Mayor for the City of Davis.

Wolk was raised in Davis, California. He graduated from Davis Senior High School in 1995. When not presiding on the bench, he enjoys cycling, running, camping, hiking, and watching ducks at the University of California, Davis Arboretum.

He is registered as a Democrat.
