Judge Danielle L. Brewer - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Danielle L. Brewer is a judge for the 12th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2022, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Debra Johnes Riva.

The 12th Judicial Circuit includes DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota Counties. Brewer presides in both DeSoto and Sarasota Counties, including the DeSoto Case Management Court.

Prior to her appointment, Brewer sat as a judge for the DeSoto County Court in the 12th Judicial Circuit, a position to which she was appointed by former Governor Rick Scott in 2016. She presided over the County Civil and Criminal Divisions, the Case Management Court, and the Circuit Court Foreclosure and Juvenile Delinquency Divisions in DeSoto County. Brewer is credited with spearheading the implementation of the DeSoto Comprehensive Case Management Court, the DeSoto County Pretrial Services, the DeSoto Truancy Court, and the DeSoto County Driving While License Suspended Court.

Prior to beginning her judicial career, she spent four years as an associate at Swaine & Harris, P.A.

Brewer received a B.S. in animal sciences from the University of Florida in 2009. She went on to complete a J.D. at Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law, in 2012.

She has sat as a member of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Technology Committee and the Florida Commission for Access to Civil Justice. Brewer was also involved with the South Florida State College Foundation Board; the Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo, Inc.; the Jim Crews Playground Foundation, Inc.; the Arcadia Rotary Club; the Arcadia Mainstreet Program, Inc.; the DeSoto County Chamber of Commerce; and Take Stock in Children.

She was born and raised in DeSoto County, where she attended DeSoto High School. Her family first settled in the area in the late 1800s. At the time of her appointment to the Circuit Court, Brewer resided in Arcadia, Florida.
